 Dry Shampoo is the Answer

Let me start by saying…. I’ve tried way too many dry shampoos. I am a self-confessed product junkie. I love samples, specials and deals. I never thought I would try dry shampoo again after trying it for the very first time camping so many years ago. These days, with a busy toddler in tow, I use dry shampoo a couple of times a week. Let me tell you why.

Easy Hairstyles for Your Morning Routines

We all know, morning minutes are super important when trying to get out of the house in the morning with children. I know women who only wash their hair at night and take minimal time in the morning to work on their hair. If you are in the camp of needing a daily am hair wash, keep reading.

Doing my hair with dry shampoo saves me about thirty minutes! If I wash my hair, then dry, then style it in the morning, I spend approximately thirty five minutes on hair care alone. Who has time for that every day?

Extra Time

What can you do with thirty extra minutes a day? You can fold laundry, sort it and put it away. You can even start another load and put it on delayed start to put it away. You can get something together in a crock pot for dinner for the evening. You can prep your meal for the Instant Pot too!

You can read a book. So many women tell me they don’t have time to read. I was one of those women. I have found time that I carve out for myself to read for me. You can leave early to go to work and sit in a quiet area just for your own reading pleasure.

You can spend that extra time meditating. You can practice mindfulness. You can go for a short walk. There are so many things you can do with 30 minutes. Don’t let it go to waste.

Which Dry Shampoo is Best?

There are so many dry shampoos to choose from. You have the drug store variety and high end salon brands.

Use what works for you. This photo was taken today. These are all of the dry shampoos that I have stocked in my bathroom.

Let’s start off with Drybar. Drybar products are by far my favorite. Not only do I love the catchy names for each of their products, but I also love the packaging and smell of everything they have. Currently, I have three dry shampoos and a dry conditioner from Drybar.

My favorite by far is the Detox dry shampoo. I love the smell and how it removes all traces of oil. There is a dry bar whipped foam that is good for taming the frizzies. The Dextox Dry Shampoo for Brunettes smells as good as the Detox Dry Shampoo.  My only complaint is that it is a little messy.  Becuase it is for brunettes, it comes out a dark brown color.  If you touch it, the brown residue moves to your fingers and nails so you will need to wash it off.   I think it is excellent between hair color sessions to hide new growth. The Drybar Detox Dry Conditioner gives a nice shine to your hair after the dry shampoo matte look.   This has a nice scent as well.  I also have the foam Dry Bar Dry Shampoo that isn’t in the photo above.  This is excellent for cury hair, in my opinion.  I have wavy hair and it holds my waves well.  Drybar products leave your hair looking and smelling fresh and clean.

I’m not a big fan of the “It’s a 10” miracle dry shampoo and conditioner in one. It does have a nice scent to it but it leaves a heavy film that makes my hair feel weighed down, stiff and grungy.

The Perfect Hair Day dry shampoo from “Living Proof” is my second favorite dry shampoo. The product is lightweight and does a decent job. I’m not a big fan of the smell. It smells like a household cleaner and not like fresh, clean hair. A plus is that the scent doesn’t linger and you can go about your day without having to smell it all day.

The Verdict

So many choices, but what is best? It depends on what you’re looking for. To each her own! That’s why there are so many to choose from in all price ranges.

Overall winner: Drybar Detox for fresh, clean-looking hair.

Best Buy: Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo. Affordable dry shampoo that does the job!
